Show Your Teeth Love This Valentine’s Day

February 14th. Valentine’s Day. It is a day known for love which has turned into a major celebration. In fact, it is now the third largest consumer holiday in the United States!

According to WalletHub:

  • 94% of Americans want chocolate as a gift, resulting in $1.8 billion in sales
  • $2 billion, or 13% of annual sales, will be made on flowers
  • $9 million wedding proposals will be made
  • 45% of adults say they do not celebrate the holiday
  • 27% of singles buy themselves a gift

While giving and receiving gifts is nice, we think you should celebrate Valentine’s Day by making yourself the priority. After all, one must love themselves first in order to love others. So, whether you are single or not, consider giving, or making yourself a gift this Valentine’s Day. Show your teeth some love, because, you are worth it!

Overall Health

Studies show that people who care for their teeth have overall better health! How? Our mouths are full of bacteria, which can result in inflammation, not just in our mouths, but throughout our bodies. In fact, inflammation of the gums and mouth have been linked to many health problems including Alzheimer’s disease, heart health, arthritis and more.

Unfortunately, many of the medications used to treat inflammation have a side effect of dry mouth which reduces saliva which can wash away bacteria and food particles, creating a higher risk of plaque and resulting cavities and gum disease.

All the more reason to show love for your teeth with good oral care habits: brushing twice a day for two minutes, flossing daily, mouthwash use, and chewing sugar-free gum after eating are easy ways to show your teeth some love.

Cosmetic Dentistry

Good oral health care habits will go a long way towards maintaining a beautiful smile, but according to the American Association of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD), most patients (86%) choose treatments to improve their physical attractiveness and self-esteem. The most popular services include replacing missing teeth, fixing broken teeth and teeth whitening services.

Teeth Whitening

Self-confidence is important for everything from self-esteem to job interviews and dating. Teeth whitening is popular when both professionally performed and over-the-counter solutions.  Follow your dentist’s advice for best practices to avoid tooth damage from overharsh chemicals.

Tooth Repair

Broken teeth can be painful, cause misalignments to your bite making biting and chewing difficult, and be unattractive. Your dentist can help with crowns, bridges, implants and other solutions to support a better smile and more confidence.
